Warwick Patient of the Month – October
Ellen Fandozzi presented to our Warwick office in May of this year with jaw pain that left her unable to open her mouth or chew food without pain. She consulted with her dentist and he prescribed muscle relaxers. Ellen did not feel much relief with the medication provided, so she was referred to an oral surgeon. She was diagnosed with Temporomandibular Joint (TMJ) dysfunction and referred to physical therapy. Ellen was hesitant to begin physical therapy, as she wasn’t sure if it would alleviate her symptoms. She began her rehab journey at SOPT with Kayleigh McGregor, PT, DPT twice a week for several months and much to her surprise, began feeling better within the first few sessions. Thanks to Ellen’s hard work and dedication in participating in weekly PT sessions and performing her home exercise program, along with Kayleigh’s manual therapy techniques and guidance with stretching/strengthening exercises, Ellen has successfully returned to an essential function that is so easy for all of us to take for granted.
Here is what Ellen had to say about her experience with SOPT:
“I ended up going to SOPT for a problem with my jaw. I was not happy about it at first, but I was having difficulty eating most foods. From my very first appointment, Kayleigh has been wonderful. She has worked with me and given me exercises to do at home. I can now eat whatever I want! Thanks to Kayleigh and SOPT!”
We would like to congratulate Ellen for being nominated as the Warwick Office Patient of the Month and recognize her for all of her effort and success. Happy Eating, Ellen!
