Yoga Therapy for Health & Wellness

by Sylvie Le , DPT, PYTC December 16, 2019

As a Physical Therapist and Yoga Therapist, Sylvie uses the framework of western medicine combined with traditional Yoga practices to help people improve their physical, emotional, and spiritual health. She offers weekly Yoga Therapy classes to our patients at an off-site studio, with the aim to educate, empower, and enable individuals to take an active role in their own health and wellness process. These therapeutic classes include a series of physical movements, breathing exercises, and mindfulness practices. Sylvie uses a variety of props, including chairs, blankets, blocks, and belts to modify poses to best meet the needs of each person.

Sylvie is trained to meet individuals where they are and support their healing and wellness needs, regardless of age, gender, health history, or abilities. Yoga Therapy classes are helpful in addressing a number of physical conditions, such as neck and back pain, shoulder injury, sciatica, pelvic floor dysfunction, chronic pain, and plantar fasciitis. They also have a therapeutic effect in addressing anxiety disorders, PTSD, insomnia, depression, autoimmune diseases, chronic fatigue syndrome, addiction, obesity, cancer support, cardiovascular disease, and more.

The off-site yoga studio is located at 1145 Reservoir Avenue in Cranston. This open space is cozy and welcoming, serving as a supportive atmosphere to relax, take time for yourself, and connect with others. Classes are held every Tuesday and Thursday from 9-10:15am. These classes can complement a person’s Physical Therapy treatment, and serve as a safe and supportive service to participate in upon discharge from care.
